Founded by Fernando Akasaka in 2006, FAKASAKA is dedicated to making innovative, conceptual and exclusive design objects for the home — the coolest being these stunning Frankie Skull Lamps. They look like they’d be perfectly at home in the living room of high-caliber mortality obsessed aesthetes like Alexander McQueen, Damien Hirst or Masaaki Homma (and might make a nice bookend with the Memento Mori clock, or compliment a swinging Goliath Pendant Skull Lamp). The above lamp is black-patined bronze, where the one below is titled Frankie I and is 24 karat gold-plated bronze. Other slightly different variants are available as well. Akasaka notes that the production of these high quality pieces combines “traditional craft skills with the state-of-the-art production technologies of today”, with each FAKASAKA Skull Lamp signed, numbered, stamped and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Akaska himself. No word on price, but you can bet remembering your own mortality via high design ain’t cheap.
