Our friend and artist extraordinaire, Jim Mahfood — aka Food One — is having his first solo exhibit in Los Angeles this Friday. How the hell he hasn’t done a solo show in LA before is beyond us, seeing as he’s one of the city’s most important underground artists. Whether its his LA Ink Stains comic strip and book, or his D.I.S.C.O. Destroyer MTV Liquid Television show or the endless bevy of beautifully illustrated women he conjures, the man is constantly knocking out rad work. Anywho, his first show VISUAL FUNK goes down this Friday at  Hero Complex Gallery — it will be a retrospective on an almost two decade career highlighting Mahfood’s considerable work in comics, illustration, animation, advertising, murals, gallery shows, body painting and live art. Be there or kindly be square kids, it’ll be a fun night… and who knows, maybe you’ll be immortalized in one of his upcoming Ink Stains comics…
