When previewed this summer, Pirelli’s 2012 ode to feminine beauty promised to be another stunner. This time famed Italian photographer Mario Sorrenti took over head lensmen duty for the tire maker’s yearly supermodel escapade, the successor in a long run of world class photographers. Last night at a gala event in New York City, Pirelli finally unveiled the images from its 2012 edition and we’ve got a bunch to share with you. Shot on the island of Corsica, Sorrenti chose the theme of Swoon for the calender and elected to shoot his bevy of supermodels fully nude, in open landscape. This natural ambiance is a departure from recent years such as Karl Lagerfeld’s highly stylized Greek myth theme for 2011, or Terry Richardson’s predictably salacious work for 2010. Featuring marquee names such as Milla Jovovich, Kate Moss, Lara Stone, Margareth Made and erstwhile Oscar nominee Rinko Kikuch in their most pristine naked state, Pirelli’s 2012 calender is not available for purchase — as with all other years, the highly collectible calenders are only given to Pirelli VIPs. Are we crossing our lecherous fingers to get copy again? Oh hell yes…
