Johnnie Walker, owned by liquor mega-conglomerate Diageo, announced in Singapore last Friday a new halo version of their marque called The John Walker, and presented the first bottle shown here. Their new whisky blend will sell for $3,000 duty free, making it the most expensive liquor in Diageo’s entire beverage catalog.
Now I’m no whisky expert, just a big big fan of scotch, but I’m certainly not shelling out 3 grand for a blended scotch — that shit is nuts! Gimme a 1978 Knockdhu or an 18 year Macallan single malt any day, and that’ll cost you under one bill (ok, maybe the Knockdhu a bit more). The walnut case and beveled glass bottle are beautiful and all, but it seems like on this one you’ll be dropping your dollars more for the label and aesthetics than the beverage contained there within.
Still, who wants to prove me wrong and buy me a glass? Neat, of course…
