Aged to perfection in delicately burnt oak barrels
If you ever thought the only real difference between whisky and moonshine was the bathtub your booze was brewed in and the letter of the law, think again. Ole Smoky, Appalachian hootch bottlers and the official moonshine of the Talladega Superspeedway (makes sense, seeing as NASCAR came from illegal moonshine runners), age their moonshine in delicately burnt barrels until it gets the official “charred” flavor and grows up into a real fine mountain whisky. While probably not as sweet as their Cherry or Apple Pie moonshine, the Ole Smoky Charred probably retains more of a whisky edge. Check your local liquor store for a bottle of racecar worthy, 105 proof, charred sauce.
