I first recognized Tara McPherson a few years ago sitting at her booth at Comic Con — it was insane. The line to meet her and have art signed wrapped around 2 other booths and basically shamed the couple other artists with signings at the time. I realized then that McPherson has the sort of […]
Ahhhh, the Yo-Yo — the treasured toy once found in Cracker Jack boxes and penny machines of people from days before color TV (yes, internet generation, those days existed). Well those were no match for this Nostalgia Yo-Yo, modeled after the 2007 World Champion model. Designed by the champion himself, Japanese master Yo-Yoer Shinobu Konmoto, […]
We were happy to sponsor The Cultyard at this year’s New York Comic-Con this past weekend, as it represented a lot of what we love here at Lost In a Supermarket. Namely art of all types, comics, vinyl toys, world class artists and oh yes — plenty of nerds. Oh-so-many nerds, in oh-so-many packages. Hot […]
The latest artist out of the Mad Decent roster, the 26-year old Mumdance (better known to his mum as Jack Adams), released his highly anticipated Mum Decent EP last week. The first single, “Don’t Forget Me Now”, sees LIAS favorite and past feature Esser on the vocals, with an appropriately clever and absurd video to […]
Brought to you by Coarse toys, the artists Mark Landwehr and Sven Waschk have come up with something that gives their toy collectors something new to look forward to, “Eyes of Fear”. We already loved their False Friends, and emptied our coffers for the Blackout Editions, so it’s no surprise we’d love these life-size fiber […]
We told you a couple weeks ago about The Cultyard at the New York Comic Convention this year, and the time is nigh! If you live in New York, call in sick today — or just take a long lunch — and hit up the New York Comic Con for the The Cultyard collective. The […]
Wood and robots go together like eating nuts and chewing gum, so it deserves mention when someone actually manages to make them work together. Inspired by traditional Japanese joinery, Twine’s Wooden Robot Man is a little cube that pops open into a robot that can hold countless poses. Elastic muscles enable him to be twisted […]
A second collection of toys from London-based designers Yum Yum, who are Beth Algieri and Jonny Plummer. The collection is called Heroes & Villains, and feature highly stylized icons of bravery and villainy. I especially dig the accessories, like the bank robber’s dynamite and zombie’s brains. Nice touch.
