Searching for intimacy in an inadvertent way
After noticing that a lot of the TVs for sale on Craig’s List (because of the flash on the camera) had reflections of the people selling them (aka the ones that took the photo) Penelope Umbrico started collecting all the images she could find and turned it into this, “TVs From Craigslist.” It is kinda a rad little intimate glimpse of the seller and their world. I like it because it’s public art but not in the traditional sense. But it does utilize the public domain both for its content and its context. Pretty sneaky sis.
The artist has a lot of pretty interesting projects on her site worth taking a peep at. Most of it deals with things found on the Internet.
