We were happy to sponsor The Cultyard at this year’s New York Comic-Con this past weekend, as it represented a lot of what we love here at Lost In a Supermarket. Namely art of all types, comics, vinyl toys, world class artists and oh yes — plenty of nerds. Oh-so-many nerds, in oh-so-many packages. Hot female anime nerds, overweight escapist nerds, confused sexuality nerds, goth nerds, comic nerds…you get the gist. To capture the awesome glimmering flotsam parade of humanity that is the NYCC, and The Cultyard in particular, we sent esteemed fashion photographer Jessica Bloom to cover it for us — to capture the elusive species Nerdus Comicus in its native habitat: the convention floor. “I was attempting to capture the small gestural motions we as humans can not always hide — the small, personal, and sometimes comical gestures that make everyone human no matter what kind of character a person is wishing to portray,” explains Bloom. “The whole experience at the NYCC was definitely in a word a trip. A journey through crowds of true characters and their incredibly extensive obsessions was simply a lot of fun.” Check out the 2 galleries below (one after the Jump), and pretend you were there for madness…
