Don’t you hate when automakers flaunt engorged stats and titillating images of cars they know they’ll never let you have? It’s the gearhead’s equivalent of going to a strip club: all stimulation, no realization. Such is the case with Jaguar who are releasing new images of its aborted C-X75 Concept. Originally debuted in 2010 at the Paris Motor Show, the million dollar hypercar was engineered following the red hot hybrid architecture pairing a petrol engine with electric motors that creates a vehicle with unearthly numbers (see Porsche 918, Ferrari LaFerrari, Acura NSX, McLaren P1, etc). The Formula One-inspired C-X75 features a turbo- and supercharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine augmented with two electric motors, combining for an earthshaking 850 hp output with 738 lb-ft of torque… all with less emissions than a Toyota Prius. A truly stunning achievement. Its name derived from Jaguar’s 75th Anniversary combined with C for “concept” and X for “experimental”, the AWD C-X75 prototype promised a 220 mph top speed and a 0-60 mph click in under three seconds .Unfortunately for petrol heads, the prodigious concept was nipped… or was it? Jaguar is now saying 5 of the C-X75 will be built, 3 for the venerable British marque to keep for themselves and two to sell to very, very, very lucky (and rich) owners.
