While Lotus’ Elise and Exige are dope little sports cars (as well as the chassis behind the Tesla), what they certainly are not is luxurious. Inside, the cars are about as comfortable and plush as a YMCA bathroom. Finally, with their new Evora, Lotus has a car with guts to match its supermodel looks. The mid-engine, 2+2 coupe (a convertible is in the works) comes with a 3.5L V6 sourced from Toyota (but modified by Lotus) that generates 276 horsepower.
The Evora will debut in 2009, and about 2,000/yr will be made. Weighing in at a Kate Moss-like 2,976 lbs, the Lotus’ legendary handling should most likely not be sacrificed with the new luxury…at least we hope…
