We’ve been following the development of Mercedes Benz’s gorgeous CLA ever since it was introduced as the “CSC” Concept Style Coupe last year. Then we saw it firsthand at the Transmission LA: AV Club Opening Party and were even more blown away. Well now the car is moving into production, and its worldwide introduction during the very well received Superbowl commercial (see below) made it the most researched car as the dust settled and the Ravens took home the Lombardi Trophy (and a weeping Ray Lewis, ostensibly, transcended to heaven at the 50-yard line). There’s no question, Benz’s baby brother to the gamechanging “4-door coupe” CLS is going to be a big seller for Stuttgart. Now it’s been announced that the special version of the CLA, called the Edition 1, will also be sold in the states — originally it was slated for Europe only. The modified version of the CLA features bi-xenon headlights, a lowered suspension and 5 color treatments (mountain gray, cosmos black, night black, cirrus white and polar silver magno). Interior-wise, the car comes kitted with Neon Art interior — a mixture of leather with black microfiber fabric contrast stitched in bright yellow. Several AMG parts are incorporated into the exterior of the car, including front and rear aprons, side sill panels and black light-alloy wheels. We also learned last week that the AMG version of the CLA will be AMG’s first 4-cylinder production — a major landmark for the legendary tuner. The Edition 1 will only be available for the first year the CLA is in showrooms so act quick. Although U.S. pricing has not been released, the Edition 1 starts at about $47,500 in Europe.
