Music festivals are a dime a dozen nowadays, with nearly every podunk berg and deep niche music blog trying to attract aficionados to their questionable line-ups. And although comedy has played a small roll in some of these festivals — such as Bonnaroo, for instance — how come no one has organized a comedy-based festival? Well kids, now they have — and the “they” involved are none other than everyone’s favorite acoustic death metal goth new wave duo Tenacious D. And peeping the All Star line-up of the Festival Supreme, it’s a comedy fan’s Valhalla: Zach Galifianakis, Patton Oswalt, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Tim and Eric, Sarah Silverman, The Mighty Boosh, The Gregory Brothers, Tig Notaro, Hannibal Buress, Eric Idle, Princess, Demetri Martin, Dynasty Handbag, Reggie Watts, Beardyman, Craig Robinson and the Nasty Delicious, Garfunkel and Oates, Neil Hamburger Band, The Abe Lincoln Story, Nancy and Beth and Adam Sandler. Yes, Adam Sandler. Not a big fan of Sandler’s craptastic movies, but he’d certainly be worth checking out live.

But that’s not it. Perhaps best of all? How about the return of Mr. Show! Dubbed “The Mr. Show Experience”, Festival Supreme will see the reunion of David Cross and Bob “Better Call Saul” Odinkirk’s seminal HBO sketch series, played live. We saw tapings of Mr. Show twice in the 90s, stoned out of our bottoms, and it was an experience for the ages – equal parts absurd, experimental and brilliant. For fans of the cult show, this is monumental. Oh, and how about Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to top things off? The Festival Supreme will take place on the Santa Monica Pier this Saturday, October 19th, with the always awesome Jack Black and Kyle Gass playing hosts and headlining the entire experience. Mr. Show, Tenacious D, Triumph, Galifianakis, Will Forte, Patton Oswalt and Opera Man on the Santa Monica Pier? In one day? Yowzers. This will be a powerhouse experience, one we personally cannot wait for.
